Most Nepali music lovers should be familiar with Kumar Kancha songs and most importantly with his current situation. He soothed everyone via his hit “Jindagi ko Ke bhara chha ra” and now the same words are true with his own life. Kumar Kancha, one of the popular and veteran singers of Nepal, is currently struggling with his life at S L Raheja Hospital in Mahim, Mumbai. Meanwhile along with several efforts from the Music Industry people, Nepali singers have come up with a big event for the help of Kumar Kancha.
“An Evening for Kumar Kancha”, an event organized by Namrata Shrestha will see singers like Hemant Rana, Ram Krishna Dhakal, Mallika Karki, Shreya Sotang, Dharmendra Sewan, Suresh Kumar Chhetri and bands like The Unity and Aghoors perform at the Patan Musuem from 6 pm onwards, on Saturday, December 18.
Kumar Kancha has been left paralyzed from the waist down after a spinal cord operation and is bedridden in Hospital for several months now. In a video from the hospital bed on youtube, he is appealing all his lovers and country people to help him for the treatment financially. See the Video below.
I have been bedridden for a month now. I have been left paralyzed from the waist down after a spinal cord operation. For those who can help me financially, please do and for those who can’t, I ask for your prayers,” he appeals.
This is not the first time that the Industry people have come up for his support. He has been supported by several artists and popular media like Kantipur Fm and Television. A sum of Rs 4, 80,000 has already been transferred via the contributions made possible by donations from non-resident Nepalis, SMS initiatives and amount deposited in the official funds account at Nepal Investment Bank Limited. According to some sources, he needs total of Rs 1, 120,000 for his treatment. A huge amount, but your little support can make a great difference to this singer’s life.
Namrata Shrestha vividly remembers meeting Kancha during an interview at Kantipur FM, and took an instant liking of the man who was full of life and vitality. “It’s not just money that counts, the care shown by his fans, friends by the act of giving is sure to be a great moral booster. To be loved and to be wanted is the biggest motivator to live, ask me, I’m a prime example,” said Shrestha. “Let’s hope Kancha is not another tragic case of late Gopal Bhutani who died with a dream, unfulfilled,” she adds.
Kancha’s album “Saino” will also be launched during the fund-raising concert and Shrestha revealed that she will also be acting in the music video for the song, “Naina resham”, free of cost. The video is to be directed by Bushan Dahal.
